Certificate in Quality Management Fundamentals

The Certificate in Quality Management Fundamentals is the accessible starting point of PABM Campus's Quality Management pathway, open to school leavers, working adults, and entrepreneurs alike — no prior background in quality is required. The programme introduces the core principles of Quality Management, including the philosophies of pioneers such as Deming, Juran, and Crosby, and builds a practical working vocabulary used across quality-driven organisations.

Learners are introduced to the Seven Basic Quality Tools — including Pareto charts, cause-and-effect (fishbone) diagrams, control charts, and flowcharts — through hands-on, case-based exercises drawn from manufacturing, service, and hospitality settings relevant to the Sri Lankan business environment. The programme also covers customer focus, process thinking, and continuous improvement (Kaizen), giving learners a solid, practical grounding they can apply immediately in their own workplace or business.

Designed to be genuinely accessible, the programme welcomes applicants regardless of formal educational background, including business owners and self-employed individuals who bring practical experience rather than paper qualifications. On successful completion, learners are equipped for entry-level quality assurance, quality control, or process support roles, and are eligible to progress directly into the Diploma in Quality Management.

Entry Direct Eligible via any ONE of:

• A/L (any stream), minimum 2 passes 
• O/L, 6 passes incl. Maths & English + relevant work experience
• No formal qualification, min. 2 years' relevant work/business experience (subject to Advisory Committee review)
  Entrepreneurs/business owners with quality-related, operational, or supervisory experience
• Recognised Certificate in Quality Management, Business Management, Engineering, or related field, from another institution

Entry RPL

• For applicants who started a similar diploma-level programme elsewhere but didn't finish. On submitting transcripts and syllabi, the Advisory Committee assesses prior learning and decides the entry point plus any remaining course units required.
